Perspectives on Urban Education Journal

A student-run, on-line publication, the Urban Ed Journal provides as an interactive forum to investigate critical issues in urban education. Submissions of research findings as well as studies in progress are encouraged from graduate students, practitioners, policymakers, and researchers.

Ethnography in Education Research Forum

Penn GSE’s Center on Urban Ethnography convenes the Ethnography in Education Research Forum, the largest annual meeting of qualitative researchers in education, presently in its thirtieth year. The Forum has from the beginning excelled in nurturing ethnographic research and researchers in schools. The Forum is known for its friendly and supportive atmosphere for fledgling researchers and for the spirit of relaxed and open dialogue embracing newcomers and experienced researchers alike. Areas of emphasis include: multicultural issues in education, practitioner/teacher/action research, critical and feminist ethnography, ethnographic evaluation in education, language issues in education, uses of ethnography in math and science, and indigenous language revitalization.
